A 4-Part Workshop Series to Help You Grow Your Confidence in Conversations
Feel like conversations don’t come naturally? You’re not alone — and you’re in the right place.
School of Yapping is a 4-part, practice-based workshop series designed to help you feel more confident, connected, and comfortable in everyday conversations. Whether you sometimes overthink what to say, find group settings tricky, or simply want to get better at talking to new people — this is a safe, supportive space to learn and grow.
What You'll Learn:
Over four weeks, you’ll build core conversational skills through hands-on practice and real-time feedback. Each session covers a key area:
🌿 Session 1 - 12 June 2025
Get to know your coursemates with sharings about making conversations at this unique Friendzone event. You’ll also gain insight into your own self-confidence levels when it comes to socialising and chatting with others.
🤝 Session 2 - 19 June 2025
Master both verbal and non-verbal ways to start conversations in a friendly and respectful manner, whether one-on-one or in group settings.
📝 Session 3 - 26 June 2025
Receive a personalised report on your conversational style. Understand how to “read the room”, interpret social cues (e.g., disinterest, emotions, and power dynamics), and respond appropriately (e.g., validating emotions, seeking clarification, de-escalating tensions).
💬 Session 4 - 3 July 2025
Learn to progress conversations beyond small talk, and turn acquaintances into friends through intentional, meaningful conversations.
Why join this course:
- Receive a custom conversation style report to better understand yourself.
- Practise in a safe, low-pressure space with real people.
- Get personal feedback from facilitators and peers.
- No boring lectures — just practical, fun activities you can immediately apply.

🧠 What You’ll Learn & Do
What will the sessions be like?
Each session includes interactive activities, bite-sized learning, guided practice, and group reflections. You can expect:
- Icebreakers to warm up and connect
- Role-playing and group scenarios to practise real-life conversations
- Tips and frameworks you can apply immediately in social settings
- A safe and supportive environment with like-minded peers
- A personalized report on your current conversational skills with areas for improvement
What will I get out of this course?
By the end of the 4 sessions, you’ll:
- Start and hold smoother, more natural conversations
- Feel more confident and grounded in social settings
- Understand both verbal and non-verbal social cues to navigate group dynamics with ease
- Know how to build genuine connections beyond small talk
- Feel more comfortable being yourself around others :)
- Gain tools and confidence to navigate real-life social situations that you can apply beyond this course
Will this help with work-related conversations too?
Yes! While the focus is on everyday conversations, many of the skills — like reading cues, listening well, and expressing yourself clearly — apply to networking, meetings, and workplace dynamics too.
Is this therapy or counselling?
No, this is not a clinical or therapeutic programme. It’s a workshop series focused on building practical social skills. If you’re dealing with intense social anxiety or emotional distress, we encourage you to also seek support from a mental health professional.
🌿 The Experience
What if I don’t know anyone?
You’re not alone. Everyone is here to grow, and our trainers will guide you through that discomfort gently and with humour. Many people come in not knowing anyone and leave with new friends.
Can I come alone?
Definitely :) Most participants come solo. In fact, it’s a great way to challenge yourself in a safe space — and maybe leave with a few new friends.
How many people will be in each session?
We will keep the cohort size small (around 15–20 participants) to create a cosy and interactive space where everyone can speak, share, and participate meaningfully.
Is there any homework or prep required?
No formal homework, but we may suggest light reflection prompts or optional “real-world challenges” (like trying out a new conversation opener during the week). These are designed to help you apply what you learn outside the session.
📅 Attendance & Fees
What if I can’t attend all 4 sessions?
We strongly recommend attending all sessions to get the full experience, but if you have to miss one, let us know in advance. You can choose a 3-session ticket instead of the full package. While sessions build on each other, each one also offers stand-alone value. While there aren’t makeup classes, you’re welcome to transfer your spot to a friend for the session you’ll miss — just let us know in advance so we can welcome them properly.
Why is there a fee for this workshop?
Developing workshops like this take time, planning, and care. Your ticket goes towards venue rental, content research, facilitator and trainer fees, materials, and logistics — and helps us continue creating safe, intentional spaces for connection.
Thanks for investing in yourself, and in Friendzone’s mission to make friendship and enjoyable yapping more possible for everyone.
