TheSingapore Reinsurers’ Association(SRA) is an industry trade association established in 1979 for financial institutions licensed by the MAS to transact reinsurance business in Singapore. It has a total membership of over 50 members comprising of major reinsurance companies with a presence in Singapore, direct insurance companies that write substantial reinsurance portfolio, major reinsurance broking firms, regional reinsurers, Lloyd’s service companies and ancillary service providers.﻿Thekey objectivesof theSingapore Reinsurers’ Association(SRA) are:Advocacy & Representation: to represent members in strategic matters affecting the wider industry through active engagement with regulators, policy makers and industry bodies;Professional Excellence: to promote the relevance of and excellence in the industry through education, professional development and best practices.;Engagement: to provide platforms for industry exchange, collaboration, and connection that promote and advance the industry's common interests.;Market Development: to foster public awareness and advance the (re)insurance industry in Singapore and its diverse career opportunities.The SRA is managed by an elected Executive Committee, which comprises senior reinsurance practitioners who dedicate their time on a strictly voluntary basis, supported by a full-time Executive Director and Secretariat team.

WEBINAR OUTLINE:This hour-long live webinar is a follow-up project of the SRA Technical Sub-Committee to help raise awareness on the possible use of Parametric Risk Transfer solutions to help narrow the protection gap in the emerging markets in ASEAN and the rest of Asia, some regions of which are particularly susceptible to natural disasters and where perhaps traditional indemnity-based reinsurance methods may be less efficient. The webinar will feature opening remarks from the Executive Director of the Financial Markets Development Department of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), followed by a brief overview of the Parametric Risk Transfer white paper presented by the Convenor of SRA’s Technical Sub-Committee. This will be followed by a panel discussion comprising subject matter experts from New Zealand, London and Singapore, who will share their collective experience in structuring Parametric Risk Transfer solutions in various markets, and consider possible use cases to help plug emerging Asia’s huge insurance protection gap.
