About this event

You don’t have to be a therapist to be a good friend.

But what does being supportive actually look like, when someone you care about is anxious, depressed, or deeply struggling?

If you’ve ever found yourself thinking:
“I want to help, but I don’t know what to say…”
“What if I make things worse?”
“How do I support them without draining myself?”

You’re not alone, and this session is for you.

Join us for a heartfelt, practical evening that explores how to be there for someone facing mental health challenges — without feeling overwhelmed, guilty, or responsible for “fixing” them.

Through real stories and honest discussion, we’ll unpack:

    • What anxiety and depression can look like in friends, partners, or coworkers
    • Practical do's and don'ts — supportive responses that help vs. well-meaning words that can accidentally hurt
    • How to set boundaries without feeling like a bad friend
    • Ways to gently suggest professional help while preserving trust

      🎤 Panelists include:

    • Cheyenne, Counsellor
Cheyenne is a counsellor and Community Team Lead at Limitless, where she has spent over four years supporting youths both online and offline. She leads the team behind SAFEHOUSE, a pioneering Discord-based mental health platform offering accessible, anonymous emotional support. She is passionate about empowering misunderstood youths and reducing stigma through social media outreach and volunteer training.
    • Chris Chross, Mental Health Advocate
Chris Chross is a filmmaker and business student who runs her own photo-video company. Having experienced both sides of mental health struggles—as someone who has needed support and offered it—Chris brings a deeply personal perspective to the conversation. She hopes to normalise open discussions about mental health and help others navigate the challenges of supporting loved ones with greater empathy and confidence.
    • Tiffanie, Community Experience Lead
Tiffanie leads Partnerships and Community Experience at Friendzone, where she designs safe, intentional spaces for young adults to connect. With a background in counselling, her dual experience allows her to support others not just through conversation, but through systems that nurture belonging and care.

Come as you are. You don’t need all the answers — just the heart to show up and the courage to learn.

    FAQs:

🗓 What is this workshop about?

Friendzone Panel Talks & Guided Conversations are safe, community-driven spaces where we explore meaningful topics through honest conversations with both guest panelists and participants.

In our Panel Talks, we invite speakers to share personal stories, lived experiences, and insights related to the topic. These are not just experts, they’re people with perspectives that spark reflection and connection.

We also hold Guided Conversations in small groups before and after the panel. These give everyone a chance to share their own thoughts, hear from others, and deepen the discussion together.

    👥 Who are the panelists?
Each session features a mix of individuals with lived experience, professionals, and passionate voices from the community. We choose panelists based on how closely their stories and expertise align with the topic.

💬 What’s the event flow like?
Every panel talk follows a familiar structure:

    • Light dinner and casual icebreakers
    • Small group discussions
    • Honest panel conversation with real insights
    • Q&A from the floor
    • Closing reflections and connection time

💡 What will I get out of this?
    You’ll gain:

    • A deeper understanding of the topic through honest personal stories
    • Practical tools for navigating friendships, boundaries, or challenges
    • A safe space to share your own experiences
    • New connections with like-minded peers

✍️ What’s in the registration form?
To help us tailor the session, we ask a few simple questions like:

    • What do you hope to learn?
    • Any questions you’d like answered?

This helps our panelists speak to what matters most to you.

    📸 Will photos be taken?
We take photos or videos for Friendzone’s social channels. You’ll be informed ahead of time, let us know if you prefer not to be photographed!

Can I ask questions during the event?
