SYNOPSIS

If you are over 50 years old and have Diabetes, you may be more susceptible to vision-threatening eye diseases like Cataract and Diabetic Retinopathy. Proper management of your diabetes and regular eye examination by your ophthalmologist is the key. Join us as we share with you how Diabetes can affect your eyes and how you can save your eyesight starting today.

The World Diabetes Awareness Day was introduced in 1991 and held on November 14 each year by the International DiabetesFederation and the World Health Organization (WHO) in response to the alarming rise of diabetesaround the world. Eagle Eye Centre aims to create greater awareness on how diabetes can affect the eye in particular on the retina (diabetic retinopathy). This disease can affect up to 80 percent of all patients who have had diabetes for 20 years or more.

Director of Vitreoretinal Surgery and Retinal Specialist; Vitreoretinal Surgery & Retinal Services, Cataract Surgery,Uveitis, Ocular Immunology & Inflammation Service, LASIK, Presbyopia & Refractive Service

Dr Stephen Teoh, a Consultant Ophthalmologist, specialises in retinal surgery (including retinal detachment repair, macular hole surgery, diabetic vitrectomy, diagnostic vitrectomy etc.) and medical vitreoretinal diseases (including management of age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular disorders, diabetic retinopathy etc.). He is also trained in the diagnosis and management of uveitis and ocular inflammatory diseases, including immunosuppression with biologic and surgical diagnostic biopsies.
